Kawasaki Prairie 650 vs. Polaris Sport 400

RedGoblin,
I believe its common knowledge that (all other things be equal) a 2 stroke engine accelerates much faster than a 4 stroke engine. Keep in mind that a 2 stroke motor has a power stoke every other stroke whereas a 4 stroke has only 1 power stroke for every 4 strokes. Don't get me wrong, I like 4 strokes better b/c I think they have more power down low than most 2 strokes and IMO 4 stroke motors are usually more reliable and require less maintenance (many 2 strokes seem to need a top-end rebuild fairly often).
Happy trails...

Redgoblin,
Honestly, I have no idea which one is faster in a drag race. I've gone to a local MX course for practice and passed someone on a Pol. 400...but this was clearly not a race and is not indicative of how well they would do against each other in a drag race.
Customfab,
You are also correct about the power stroke...but I was simply stating it in terms of strokes (hence the names "2 stroke motor" and "4 stroke motor") and not in terms of revolutions of the crankshaft. In any case, both of us are correct.

Kisssofdeath...All I can say is what I've experianced, maybe I got lucky and got one of the faster Scramblers out of the box. My Scrambler has a few bolt on mods but the engine itself is stock. I've raced a Highly moded Prairie 650 in 300ft drag and won by 11/2 bike lengths. Also raced a slitely moded 700 Prairie and ran even with it. With the 700 whoever got the jump from the start would win. Thats in a 300ft drag race, Top end they would both catch me and pass me. I enjoy drag racing either way, win or loose.
