Paint remover got the cracks, the "cracks" aren't really polished yet. This was mostly hand polishing, well after the paint removal there is a "gun metal" type oxide on the alum. Then I took a 3m Scotchbrite finishing wheel to them lightly. 4 wipes with Mothers polish. I have a couple more wipes to go before I'm satisfied. close ups will show the weld seams on the rear wheels though, an unfortunate surprise but they'll be dirty more often than clean anyway.

May I suggest that you get them Clear Coated at your local Auto Body Shop. Get them to get the clear used for car/truck rims and not the car paint stuff. The stuff for the rims last a hell of a lot longer and is a lot tuffer.

Good suggestion, I'm aware the bare polished Alum will be high maint cleaning, but my experience with the clear coating is it will get scratched and chipped eventually also and have to be redone. I'll consider it for sure.
