Is it normal for a new 700 Prairie to whine? It's pretty loud,sounds like a vaccum cleaner motor! I have 6 hour/36 miles on'er!

 

yes they make all kinds of funny noise you will get used to it after awhile

 

I hope I get use to it. I'm new to 4-wheeler,and belt drive game. I've rode ol' 3-wheelers alot! Thanks for the reply!

 

I heard someone say you could just tell your wheelin buddies, that that noise is the "super" charger.

dont worry..the ringing in your ears from the constant noise will eventually drown out the whinning of the tranny..just take a few hours ..

 

I thought I read somewhere that the whine from the Prairie tranny is because the gears are cut differently then most quads or something like that.

 

Straight cut verses helical. Much stronger like an Allison tranny.

Do the Nyroc muffler mod and re-jet and you woun't notice the whine anymore.
