02 650
Like the topic says, if the bike is in neutral, and you rev it up, it creeps, not much, maybe a couple of cm's, but you can still see it creep. New 700 belt on it with about 100 km's, and a 1.2 or 1.4 shim, I can't remember. Is this a sign of the belt being too tight? It ever so slightly squeals when idling in gear. I know that is a sign of a tight belt, but is the creeping too?

Don't hold me to this, because I'm by no means an expert............yetAccording to Nyroc's website though, yes, both the creeping in gear and slight squeaking at idle are both signs of slight belt tightness. However, if you can stand these things, Nyroc's website said to just let it go because a tight belt is a lot better than a loose one as far as performance and longevity.

It is just viscous effects of oil in tranny.
A manual tranny car's tires will move pretty fast when they are off the ground.
If there is something wrong with some of the bearings in your machine, it would do that worse than the rest of us. Somebody go rev their machine in neutral and see if it moves.
I can't, someone's bedroom is right over my 650. They are gonna wake up to my 650 in the morning, but they aren't going to hear it before that.

Hey Nyroc, if I do not have the spring compressor tool nor the mechanical abilities, would it be easier to just cowboy up and learn to do the shim procedure on my own or have a local stealership do it? About how much would they charge me do you suppose if that's the best option. I looked on your website at the whole procedure and was kind of intimidated by it, especially when I saw the 8 out of 10 mechanic rating without the spring compressor.

The other thing that happened was (friends bike) he was stuck in a mud hole and put it in low, it popped out (ratcheting sound) after about 2 seconds, then on the shifter, neutral position was high range, reverse position was neutral, and it wouldn't go to reverse....so we adjusted the linkage and all gears work again. I'm hoping this didn't affect anything in the tranny as related to the above mystery.
