Forum a little slow today, so I thought I would update:

Havent been on mine since last thursday--(had to spend a family weekend with wife and kid) I have my airbox lid off and snorkel off with a big thick plastic washer shimming the needle and a 170 main jet---bought two new spark plugs on thursday and it was running about as rich as Donald Trump----I am going to first start tonight by taking needle shim out (and measuring with mic) and then do some test runs with the 170 main to see what happens( I was having some trouble reading my plugs before but now I know I am rich and plug is black, I will start backing down slowly and document what I am doing. All tests will be made with airbox lid off. Snorkel is removed right now but i am considering blocking snorkel hole and leaving airbox lid off---It is almost at about the same height as the snorkel..Anyone out there with a 360, how about pilling your airbox lid off and letting me know if you notice any difference in performance.

Iv'e already ran it with the airbox lid off, I found no improvement at all, infact you might loose a bit. I did this running a test from point A to point B & timed how fast I was going when I reached point B, if I remember correctly I actually lost 1-2 mph dont remember for sure though. However I never increased jet size when I ran it..

Good Choice--I had the option to buy any bike I wanted last year and I opted for the 360---my only other choice would a been a polaris 500, but my previous quad was a kaw and I really liked it. The 360 is strong on low end but truly lacking in top end speed and power. It is not weak by any means but going up a big hill on the road you will lose top speed down to about 35 mph. I am always lagging behind when making a run to the trails. I have been doing some experimenting with different things and I am pretty sure I can smoke a stock 360 but havent found one to try it against yet.

Good Luck and keep us posted

deathreaper,

The p360 does pretty well in the mud and for towing. This weekend we were at an event that had a mud bog and my wife ran it in 20 seconds compared to the fastest time of just under 12 seconds and really had no problem going through it, just couldn't go as fast. She has stock tires and the fast times were people like me with 27" mud tires. This was a man made mud pit and not to nasty compared to wetter areas. The speed of getting through the pit was about 30% the line you took (or were foreced to take by the ruts) 30% skill and 40% power/tires - the ability to hook up the tires. I also have towed around my p700 on the trailer with ease (around 1000lbs combined).

Hey lowestaco, always a pleasure to know someone is interested in my babbling about 360's--read a thread today that the big boys drop 3-4 grand on their motors to get them setup right and I get concerned when i have to drop $20.00 on jets!!!!!!!!!

I havent put the time into my clutch yet to play with it but i did take shims out and install black epi spring---I think that clutch is hooking up pretty strong and I think i have more of a power issue than a clutch issue(although my power issue is gone at this point and I am content with my present running condition, so i would have to say that clutch spring and key are working.

I played around tonight with thick plastic shim in needle (hope you read this uinthas because it mic'd at .047) and with 170 main jet motor was breaking up at all throttle positions and plug is black. I removed thick plastic shim and ran a new plug with no shim and 170 main jet with air box cover removed and bike is awesome, although new plug is showing rich!! With the plastic shim in the needle with the 150 or 155 main jet bike ran really well with snorkel hooked up and airbox lid on----with the 170 main and snorkle removed and airbox lid off bike broke up at all throttle positions.

Tomorrow night i will pull the 170 main and go down to my next smallest 165 and leave airbox lid off with no needle shim and check performance. When I said that bike was running awesome tonight, I meant that I still havent increased my top speed on my test track (1000 ft asphalt driveway with last 200 ft being pretty steep) still doing only about 30 mph at top of hill (had it at 32 mph at one point with 150 main, thick plastic needle shim and dial a jet hooked up, but was breaking up in the midrange. but now it is doing awesome donuts in the yard and pulling real strong--and it is pretty loud with my drilled muffler and no airbox lid.

wish i had a stock 360 to compare with--but i will track someone down in due time i am sure.

Moses
Did you change just the secondary spring, or did you also change the two primary springs? Do you know anything about the red secondary spring?

OleManMoses - Just so you know I'm keeping an eye on what your doing, So keep it up!

kartmann - we have the red secondary in ours and it added low end performance for sure by building the rpms faster. It did chop off the top end but we havn't run it too much at high speeds yet. I have the red seconday but havn't installed it yet and won't until the winter now as we just moved to a temporary apartment until the new place is done and I don't have a test area anymore.

How long did it take you to install? Was it hard? Do you need any specialized tools?
