Default stock v force needle jets

Anyone give me any info on adjusting the stock needle jet. Had a friend at the dunes this past weekend running really lean through the mid, went to lower his clips, none there. Anybody shed some light on how to adjust them. Or do you just have to buy smaller needles?

You have to shim the needle on a V.Is he all stock w/o mods. If so he needs a clutch kit,I like the Dalton set up myself. The V's tend to have a flat spot midrange

He just installed a muzzy pipe, a pink spring, and modded his airbox and added a twin air filter. Rejetted his mains but didnt touch his needles. He was running up at St Anthony approx 5500'. I think he installed a 140\138 combo on his mains. But he was way lean, boggy lean, with chaulky white plugs.

I am running the same sett up with .020 shims on needles and 145 front and 148 rear and this seams to run realy strong at that elevation.
