Kawasaki Mojave Sprockets, More Speed?
#1
Hey my sprockets are pretty worn on my 2001 Kawasaki Mojave. I want to get as much more speed as possible while still maintaing a powerful lowend. I am thinking about replacing my stock sprockets with a different tooth setup. The stock setup is 12 tooth in the front and 43 tooth in the back. I am considering putting a 13 tooth in the front and 43 tooth in the back. If i choose this route how much speed will i gain, and will there be a big power loss in the low end? Also what are some good sprockets that will last long, im not real worried about weight. What are some combinations you guys are running on your Mojaves that work good. Bye the way my Mojave is all stock.

I went to a 13t sprocket at the same time I went from 22" tires down to 20", I think I probably gained 4-5mph on the top end, and 1st seems to be more useful now for real tight trail riding...before 1st was geared way to low for me. As far as what kind, I don't even remember. I got whatever the cheapest sprockets and chain were from rockymountainatv.com.

When i geared my mo to 13/43 i went from 22 inch tires to 20 like 96lapiscoupe did. It was close to the stock gearing with that change. You will likely notice a few mph gain on the top end and you will notice a slight decrease in low end but it makes the first couple gears more useful. Another combo thats worth trying is 13/41 with 20 inch tires. I got the primary drive sprocket from rocky mtn(like $7 for a front and $16 for the rear i believe).
