I was just wondering if you guy's have had the same experiance as I have drag racing the big bad Raptors. In bone stock form I havn't had much trouble beating the stock Raptors in a 300ft drag race. I have even beat a couple of piped Raptors. Beyond 300ft they do eventually pass me but for 300ft I'm usually in front. I'm sure if I post this in the Yammy forum those guy's will have a different view. What about you all?

hehe, I have only run a z400 and I blew him away with a big weight difference between the two machines and riders.
I have no experience with a raptor but don't believe for a second that your safe from the Yamaha guys over here in the Kawi section. They will sniff you out and you better have that flame retardent suit zipped up because it might get a little hot in here.
The number one excuse they will use is, that raptor driver must not know how to shift or he missed shift. They like to use that excuse alot, lol.
Anyways, just thought I would say something. Its cool to hear stories about the big old V winning races.

300ft drag...you can take a stock Rappy if you get a good start...but even after a spring swap, the Rappy will catch you after he hits third gear. It will take some more mods to stay out in front past 300ft (I assume you would start with a pipe and air box mods...)
My friend got fed up w/ me getting the holeshot and beating him in a 300ft drag w/ stock Rappy v/s KFX700.....BUT when he added his FMF exhaust....he can take me fairly easily in the same 300ft track (my KFX700 is still stock)

enForcer... Bring em on!! I aint skeered!! All they have is excuses. I'll race any stock Raptor in a 300ft drag race and I guarentee you I'll win at least 3 out 4 races with the V. That has been my experiance anyway. I will admit top end their faster but they have to get past third gear to come around me.

Every weekend I go to a large riding area where I meet up with and race a huge variety of machines. Raptors are great bikes and I will probably add one to my stable sometime. Anyhoo, before my mods, I could beat a stock Raptor up until he hits 3rd gear then it's all over. I got tired of eating Raptor roost and eventually added a second snorkle, jet kit, pipes and Dalton kit with HPD plain primary. Now, Raptors that aren't modded heavilly don't pose any kind of a threat. Even on the top end, piped Raptors can't close the gap. A coupal of weeks ago I met up with a Raptor that could trade wins with my V and the rider told me that he put some serious $$ into the engine with a different cam and larger bore. He was pi$$ed when I told him that my engine was stock besides the mods listed above.
It's not Raptors that I worry about anymore. It's those pesky piped yfz450's that pose the threat now.

I now can keep ahead of a stock raptor. I recently raced a stock raptor on a dry lake bed. I had him off the line and held it to top speed (76.4 mph on gps). He could not get by me after a mile or so. He got to 75.5 I guess. I ended up letting him take off 1st, and I still reeled him in. Now if it was modded, it would be a different outcome. When my bike was stock, I would still get the holeshot. But the raptor would slowly catch up and pass. I could only go 70 mph or so then.
