Default popping from exhaust? also question on fuel valve

I just added the napa hose mod and not I get some popping from the exhaust when I let off the throttle from wide open. I have the baffle cut slightly but not completely removed. I cut it in half . MY V is completely stock except for an epi pink spring. MY other question is i noticed to day the the fuel valve is pointing towards the ( pri ) position is it supossed to be this way or should i turn it towards the ( on )position. It has been this way since I bought it. I have never messed with it before. Thanx for all your help

You probably want to put it back to on.
You have a vacumn operated feul valve, and when you go to pri, the gas will flow even if there isnt vacumn, such as when the motor is off.
Cutting the baffle let the exaust flow a little freer, so the mixture leaned out. If you go richer, out, on the mixture screw, that should fix it up.
