The P400 is a very good working machine.
The '97, '98 400's had just a plain analog speedo, anything newer had a digital display with all the bells and whistles.
The limited slip front diff worked better than most other brands.
The rear drum brakes were prone to leaking.
Full time 4x4 only, Warn makes an Unlocker for the P300 but not the P400.
Kawi650 means that due to the full-time 4x4, if you apply the front brakes, it slows down all 4 wheels together.
You can get a good used P650 for not much more money than a good used P400.

Sorry I don't catch your response. the 650/700 don't have drums, the axle seals in the rear is the only thing that can leak.... but you really don't need to worry about that after a lot of use you will need to replace them. The old 400 (97-98) also has a mickey mouse fuel gauge on the tank and a neutral and hot light along with the analog odo and one trip meter. The 99 + 400 had a digital odo and hour and dual trip meters with overheating light etc.

My bro has a P400. It has plenty of power. Much more reliable than a Kodiak, and better riding and better handling than a Honda Foreman.
Rides nice, starts easy, stops well, handles excellent, steers easy, goes fast, turns big tires, hauls trailers.
But, the shifter is not quite as friendly to use as a P650. The rear brake squeaks, but you just ignore it. The 99 and older models had composite racks that bust fairly easy. The 2000 and newer models have better racks.
The P400 is more reliable and less maintenance than a P650 (not that a P650 is unreliable). I would recommend the P400 to anyone. They are awesome.
