well, heres my update..that was a lesson in frustration..3 screws on each one were a snap..1 screw on each stripped out on contact..WTF gives with that..dumbass engineers, must be a ploy they use to get you to take it to a dealer..one of these days when ive got lotsa time and its a helluva lot cooler out(91 today) Ill try it again..only thing is ill have to take the carbs off to remove those stinking stripped screws..needless to say that NOPE it didnt get done....and Im not to happy about it.. =(

Been there, done that. It always seems to be the last screw somehow. I am one of those damn engineers too...I only design buildings though so don't shoot me. Did you get that screw extractor set?

i tried the screw extractor on mine but that just made it worse, the screws are WAY to weak and in there WAY to tight. a good set of vice grips did it for me

just take some plyers or vice grips, and latch onto them. they will come loose. i had the same problem. i didnt remove the carbs. i bet the top left on the rear, bottom right on the front carb is the ones that are stripped.

actually its the ,rear carb bottom right and front carb bottom left..all the other screws came off so easy it wasnt funny..those last two..ARRRGGG..i was mad =)....I guess when I get the chance I will get a pair of needle nose vice grips and try..any thing else means pulling the carbs out and ,damn,i dont wanna do that...I did pick up a screw extractor but figured that would only make things worse...Ive got a buddy with a well stocked garge whos gonna let me use his stuff, he also does his own mods on a YF400 dirt bike so he's got some experiance in this

metallikev i know your frustration brother. use a center punch on the head of the screw. place it in the center of the screw and give it a couple "light taps",remember the carbs are aluminum, and try to remove the screws.hope it works for you, worked for me.

Kliehn Crimpers from lowes. Or long nosed Dykes , will dig into the screw for grip. This will remove your screws. Trust me it works
