Default Dyna CDI kickback .......

I've had the Dyna CDI in for about two months, and it had only kicked back maybe 2 or 3 times previously.... until this weekend. It did it 6 or 7 times, and one time sounded VERY nasty 'klunk' sound. It even made the same sound when I shut it off at one point!!
Also, I've noticed this weekend that my performance is WAY off... top end is only about 60mph (vs 67-68mph previous). And it doesn't seem to run consistent at all..sometimes feeling lean, sometimes rich... It also has to crank several times before starting now... -vs- firing right up as it used to.

Any suggestions???

Do I call for a replcement, if so, anyone have the number handy??

That's the way mine acted, No kickbacks at first, ran and started good, then after about 50 miles
things started to go downhill.

Send it back, it's not going to get better.

Don't have the # handy, check their website.

If you get a replacement, test it out before making a trip, or take your stock cdi with you. Some guy on kawieriders trusted his replacement and was stranded, and that's not the worst part. The worst part is when he had to be towed back by a HONDA! I hope the Honda guy knows that it wasn't Kawasaki's fault.

I wonder if Dyna will blame it on low batteries and failed components with the 2nd batch release?

I wish Kawasaki would just re-program the stock unit. That would be a great way to differentiate the "Team Green Edition" from the rest of the pack. Maybe they changed something with the Brute Force version?

My neighbor is on his second Dyna cdi and it has no performance gain over the stock cdi. His first dyna ran strong but would kick back so hard it would stop the motor when cranking and make a terrible knocking noise. He installed a new heavy duty battery but had the same results. He is now trying to return the Dyna for a refund

When I first installed it, I noticed a difference in performance... but since about 50 miles, it started kicking back, and the performance has dropped off, and runs erratically.. I've put in new plugs, new air filter, and my idle is high one minute, low the next... then high again.... plus it seems rich one second, then lean the next.... But like I said, it ran great when I first installed it. 67-69mph top speed, and pulled strong... now it hesitates, and can only manage 60mph tops.... I put my stock CDI in, and everything smoothed out... ran to 65mph as it used to. And it got there faster then the Dyna CDI now. So, Something is deffinately up with the Dyna CDI I have.... I've sent an Email to them, but trying to find a number for Scott...... anyone have his phone or Email??
