Are all the problems with the dynatek cdi resolved? Or should i wait another few months before getting one. And i will soon need a new belt for my p650. Any suggestions?

My replacement has been working very nicely. I wouldn't be afraid of getting another.

As far as the belt goes, I'd get a P700 belt. Last I heard Tracy's cycle world has them the cheapest. I just ordered two and the price is still $64 each. Tracy's: 1-800-860-0686

Ronayers wants $125 each. But, Ronayers was cheaper on the fuel pump I had to order. So, it saves to shop around.

I don't know how it compares to the new DG module but we ran mine against one set up identical except without the cdi, and I easily ran away from him. Then took my cdi and put it in his and he ran away from me.

It was worth the money.

My neighbor told me about atv connection and said I should share my Dyna experience with everyone here. The Dyna cdi gave a good performance increase for me but would kick back so hard the engine would quit cranking over and make a knocking sound. I finally convinced them that something was wrong with it and sent it back. Monday I received my ignition back the good news is there is no kick back the bad news is there is almost no performance gain what so ever. I can plug in my stock cdi and notice almost no difference between the two. There is a slight gain on the bottom with the dyna but not much. I will be trying it out this weekend on a long distance trail ride and hopefully it does better.

I wonder if the new Dyna's have the timing advance scaled back to near-stock setting to prevent kick-backs? Now it looks like we need somed timed test runs of the old Dyna vs. new Dyna.

I will be running a test this Friday at the drag strip... we will be using my "modified" 750 cc Prairie, with a wheelie bar, that will allow me to WOT right off the line at an asphalt drag strip... we will also be testing with my buddies '03 stock ( NYROC muffler mod ), 650 Prairie, no wheelie bar... we will be testing the stock CDI, the Nabor module ( out of Canada ), the original DGR Hole Shot Module, the new DGR - DG-3, the High Lifter ICM, & the Dyna CDI ( only on Dan's '03, as it will not fit on my '02 )... we will ( time permitting ), be running 3 runs with each module / CDI... the 60ft & 330ft times should provide proof of any performance gains... unfortunately, the stock quad, may have some fluctuations in time, as it will undoubtedly be wheelieing off the line, & we understand this, but if the stock quads times are consistant with the modified quads times, where the wheelie bar should eliminate any operator error... I'll be removing the spring with stall, out of my primary, & replace it with a spring with no stall, to better observe the function of these mostly bottom end boosting modules... look for results, sometime this weekend, or on Monday... we will have the time slips to verify the results, but I'll likely post an average of the 3 runs for each ...

FYI... the CDI, is borrowed from DIRTYWHITEBOY, & is one he recieved after sending back his first one...

Mine was one of the first batches, but I can tell you there is no camparison between my stock one and the Dyna. I have not had any kickback problems and we have stuck it in several machines.

Just got my DYNA installed and only have moderate improvement on my 02 Prarie. Did you rejet or make any other changes? Also did the CDI make your bike idle higher? Mine is difficult to start now without giving it some throttle.

The DG3 does not work as well on an 02 as on the 03 and up models. According to Don there is a difference in the electronics and the 02 really needs the advance key.

I bought one of the first Dyna's as well, and it gave a very nice gain. The rev's climbed much faster than with the stock box, and it pulled very hard. But, it kicked back like a motherf'er. After 3 months of babying it and trying various starting methods, I finally sent it back to Dyna the other day. I'm hoping to hear from them soon with my replacement. I'll let you know how the new one works out.
