Question about DG3
#1
I have read a few threads in the past about the DG3 module when installed , people saying that the 650P and the 700P seem to run cooler or at least they have noticed that the fan does not come as much. The reason i would like to know is this would be one of the major factors in me buying one. (DG3). Because it seems like my fan runs alot. And its been that way since new. I have cleaned the radiator very good, and it has plenty of anti-freeze in it. Also i was told that the 4 degree key was the reason that the motor ran cooler, not the DG3 module. I guess what i want to know , is there anyone that has installed the DG3 without a degree key and notice their praire is running cooler or at least that the fan does not come on as much anymore.

Without a module, the timing runs a bit retarded to reduce power to prevent wheelies. All that reduced power goes to create engine and exhaust heat. So YES, the DG3 helps keep it cool. So does an offset key. Whether they both add together to further keep it coolest remains to be tested. Certainly it doens't hurt to have both the key and a DG3.
Wrapping the exhaust pipe seems to help a little. Disconnecting the carb heater helps. Also, running 50/50 antifreeze/water with water wetter helps (instead of 70% antifreeze). Water wetter reduces micro bubble size, so it helps the water transfer more heat. Maybe even go 60% water in texas if it doesn't get too cold in winter. Water carries more heat away.
Also, Evans NPG (www.evanscooling.com) is better than antifreeze and water.

dg3 is my only mod beside black spring and 700 belt.
my fan used to run for 5 minutes or more after running her hard.
now it comes on for 30 seconds to a minute if even at all.
dg3 does make it run cooler by itself
I now clean mud out of the radiator front and back every ride sometimes twice a day.
I take off the plastic on the sides 5 or 6 screws.
seems I clean it and let it sit 15 20 minutes and do it again and get more dirty water

I know this has been asked, but, do the DG3 guys have a web site or just the phone number? And what could i expect if I install the DG3 on my stock 700, more torque, more topend speed? Please let me know if this module is worth the canadian funds I will be spending.

stock my bike would not wheelie from a stop. Dg3 it will flip over easy from a stop.
rolling under 5 or 6 mph I had to really pull on the bars and sit back stock to pull a wheelie.
This is all on pavement.
the first day I installed dg3 i ran 300 foot drags for mph. I always spun the tires. This test on gravel road.
stock 2 wheel high 49 dg3 2 wheel high 50
stock4 wheel high 50 dg3 4 wheel high 51
top speed 60 but ran out of road dg3 top speed 60
next day I lined up next to my buddies 700 twin peaks
4 wheel high A little gas to tighten belt with brake on leaning forward let her rip.
Darn thing wheellied up high immediately, Scared the crap outa me. didn't do that the whole day before, just spun.
I feel a major increase in power thru the whole band except maybe high rpm, just a little. It's a lot faster now than
my 02 650. The 02 and 03 were exact same side by side. The 02 was faster till the 03 had 20 hours. I went up
hundreds of hills on the 03 stock. NO problem. Put the dg3 on and have flipped it twice at the top of a hill giving it
a little too much gas at the top. I now turn it off when hill climbing, but on other than that.
well worth the 160 out the door imo

The best modification dollar for dollar I have ever purchased. Very reliable, starts easier and runs cooler with a major power increase. My honest opinion

How do I get in touch with them and who do I ask for? I tried to find the number on here but couldn't. I hope they like us Canadians and give me a break on the exchange! lol
