Default KFX400 Frame Problems?

Did Kawi ever do anything to fix the frame issues with KFX's? I seem to remember hearing about them cracking and I see alot of frame gusseting kits out there but just wanted to know if it is something I should worry about seeing as I may be buying a new model this week sometime.

Cool. Last question, other than adding orange to the color lineup, are there any differences between the '04 and '05 lineup? I think my dealer may have an '04 left and their '05's should be getting there so I may be able to work out a better deal on the '04.

'05 changes (the ones that matter)
1. 36mm to a 37mm carb with throttle position sensor (timing determined by throttle position)
2. higher performance cams
3. rezzies on front shocks

Thanks for the info guys! I wonder if this new carb is going to make mods such as pipes and filters more responsive since the old restrictive carb isnt there anymore?

The 1mm upsize in the bore of the carb won't make much difference, the biggest change is the inclusion of a throttle position sensor. It will put the timing at an optimum advance based on the engine RPM AND the throttle position.
The only problem is that it may be more difficult to build an aftermarket CDI for the '05s.

That is true, I didnt even think about the CDI issue. One thing about the TPS sensor is the fact that the CDI will be smarter than previous versions giving the ability to add timing to help flatten the curve on the dyno at precise RPM's. O well, I wasnt planning on any mods except for maybe a graphic kit at this point. My only problem now is figuring out which color I like better.
