Default Need some help with this mojave

What I have here is a 87 Mojave that my father in law picked up for 100 dollars(so I guess we cant expect much). The little bike runs strong for a 250 but I think there is carb problems. As long as you keep it rev'd up it runs fine, but when you are climbing a hill and have let off the throttle a little(because the front end is so light) it boggs down and just seems to flood out. Now my first thought is float level. Could you guy give me specs on the carb like where the fuel level should be in the bowl, maybe tell me a good position for the needle. And maybe what kind of problems these Mojaves are prone to. Any help is appreciated

it may be a bad diaphragm in the carb. Thats what it sounds like, but if it has been sitting awhile before you got it I would take the carb apart and clean it good.

what i would highly recommend is getting a Clymer manual for it. they're only about $30 and will tell you everything you will need to know about it with detailed instructions and pics.

also, im looking for a pipe for my 02 mojave. i want more bottom end power without getting a new sprocket because i just got ITP Blackwaters for it and theyre still the same 22's but theyre heavier and a bit taller. i burnt out my sparkplug that day from riding in the mud and then trying to pull a 1000 lb quad up the hill because it got stuck. needless to say that didnt work. would a new sparkplug help with more power? thanks
