its the k&g spings and plates. when you say stronger do you mean that they last longer or does it perform better. and did you say i will have to replace the gasket, could i just put the old one back on?

Hey Clover,

Just thinking....how do ya like your Raptor, compared to the ol' Kota??
Is it like a night and day differance ........are they close......which do u prefer/like better....
and finally is the Lakota better at any categorie against the rappy?

just wonder.....you seem to be the best guy to ask lol

tmaxx with the k&g you will notice a difference of how much smoother the shifts are kind of like a manual clutch,also the gasket you'll probably be best to get one,both of ours we've changed the gasket tore when we first took the clutch cover off,but maybe if your real careful you might not tear it.Like i said you'll want to get one,because you'll hate to get in there and it tears and don't have an extra gasket.

Bigchris between the rap and kota,i wouldn't say its night and day because the lakota is not that bad of a machine.I like the rap better in alot of things over the lakota,except the lakota is a whole lot better in mud and to me it seems the lakota has a little better handling and more precise than the rap.the one thing that downs the lakota so much is the weight,if it weighed the same as the mojave it would be great.Top speed between them theres about a 5-7mph difference,and in a drag the rap will win by about 3-4 quad lenghts (both stock).By the way thats a nice lakota you got,it looks almost exactly like mine,with the same hood and bumper.I would like to get a 330 kit for mine and see what it does to it one day.

clover, its probably to late but is there anything else that would make the clutch slip real bad besides worn plates. i use pennsoil 10w 40 and i made sure it didnt have the energy conserving label on it.

and that lakota is real nice bigchris, i was wondering if you gained anything much after your weight loss program.

Well the weight loss program was pretty effective....I can't remember for sure, but she lost somewhere around the 20lbs mark.
Honestly the weight reduction stuff did help....i feel she's better balanced...feels a little snappier ....and it is noticably easier to wheelie.
Yesterday and Today I ran her down the road......I'm stuck at 62mph with no clutch kit or pipe.....she's practically begging for a pipe, but my dad wont let me get one till I pay her off.....he says "the pipe will break it"....dont get me started...LOL
but I will get one soon, I hope it makes a difference....Idn about any carb modifications tho....I'm not too fimiliar with that area....so i will try to work around that one...

Clover, you have a smoothy hood also?....let me ask you
You know where the air intake is in the front?.....did you cover yours with anything....or leave it exposed...did it ever give u trouble.??....like suckin to much dirt in ?
so far mines good, no trouble...peppier if you ask me...but i was worried about dirt/water goin in...i pulled the air filter......looked fine....and i drained some of the cords things ya drain....but shes good...jw if you had any problems

tmaxx back when i first go my lakota i used to run castrol oil for a while until the clutch started to slip,then i switched to kawachem and had no problem.I talked to a dealer about this and he said the oil like castrol and pensoill made the clutch slip for some reason and the best oil is the motorcyle oil from the dealers.I suggest kawachem 4 stroke motor oil its great.Other stuff that make the clutch slip is stuff like an aftermarket exhaust,filter,rejetting,and other mods that add hp.The stock clutch isn't strong in the first place and when adding more hp to your bike it will add stress to the clutch,but you should have no problem with the k&g clutch kit.

Bigchris my smoothie hood is uncovered and i've had mine on for about a year,with no problems.

so do you think i should try switching oil, or put the new clutch on anyway. is it worth the $40.

Definetly get the clutch kit,its probably the best money to spend on the lakota.On the oil its up to you,i use and have never had any problems with kawachem,because it specifically for kawasaki 4 stroke motorcylce and atv's.

there is another problem now, i was riding today and noticed that whenever i shifted, it became stiffer and harder to shift. no where near as smooth as it was. whats the problem.........could it be the worn clutch?
one more thing, when i pop that clutch cover off is anything going to fall out?

The clutch is always hard to shift when you first start riding.And don't believe nothing should fall out.Your clutch seems to be pretty worn out,so the k&g should fix it all up.
