Default Thinner head gasket for more compression?

Has anyone ran a thinner copper head gasket on a P650 to raise the compression with a stock piston to 11:1?

Yes or no. If yes please give the website or email where the gasket came from.

Thanks
Tim

Just a word of caution, incase you didn't already know. You run a higher risk of blowing the head gasket when using a thinner one. Just to let you know!

Thanks cueball, Im getting ready to port and polish the intake and heads on my P650. Also going to go with a new 11:1 stock size piston or hopefully just change the head gasket to get the 11:1 out of my stock one. Im also going to go with Mickey D cams but havent talked with him about those yet.

Im wanting to make my P650 run with the new BF750 for as little money as possible.

I'm not sure. All I know is that the thinner the gasket, the higher the risk of blowing it. Rasing your compression ratio one full point sounds like a big jump in gasket sizes. I really can't say too much, I'm not that educated on a Prairie. lol

KOD;

I think the Cometic gaskets are made to go with the high comp pistons. If your getting new pistons, just buy the 11:1 ones, the price will be the same, they'll have the valve pockets made in them.

be careful of how much squish you have with thinner gaskets,

I agree with the "squish" thing, there is very little ( in reality ), difference in compression ratio, between a good quality ( thicker ) head gasket, when properly torqued, & a thinner, harder head gasket, when properly torqued...

Thanks guys, I seen the comet gasket last night on their site for $70. I havent called or emailed them but I wonder if that is for 1 or 2 gaskets. Thats a high price it should be for two. The reason for trying to find thinner head gaskets is to save money over buying new pistons. I will be doing this work myself with the help of my brother in law and I want as little money invested in this job as possible.

However I will do what it takes to run with a stock BF750.

I would think with your modds, just a degree key and cam timeing advance would put the BF in your rear view mirror.
