BF v/s P650... drag results.

it was on hard pack dirt about 350ft... I weigh in at 340 lbs and the owner of the new brute goes about 140-150.. we had a guy on the other side of the drag strip flag us off. 1st run, we were flaged off and both of us floored it, the brute stayed on all 4 wheels and shot out of the hole like a rocket. How ever I stood strait up and had to let off to about 3/4s throttle but still managed to pass him befor my front tiers hit the ground then i hit WOT agian.. end result was me takeing him by 1 and 1/2 linghts..... 2end run, this time I set all the way up on the air box and when we were flaged off i still wheelied for a good 30 feet but I dident have to let off the gas and pulled him by a little over 3 linghts..After that was said and done we changed bikes with the same results. Then we put my dyna cdi in the brute...... OH MY GOSH!!! you yfz guys need to watch out for a brute with a CDI..... tommy

the only other 650 I have to campare mine to is my dads bought on the same day at the same place as mine... when mine was stock it would pull dads stock one by 1 and a half linghts with me on it.. (at that time I weighed almost 400 lbs) and he was around 200lbs... when we changed bikes (him on mine) he would pulld me by at least 3 linghts. sence then ive lost 60 lbs and done a few mods but havent raced sence... I always thought dads just wasent running right or something. but i dont know. would it have been possible for kawie to screw up and put something in mine that they shouldent have?

Tommyboy,
Thanx for the drag test report above. Its not uncommon to hear that two quads which are the exact same model quad with the exact same mods/or no mods and the exact same year model come from the factory with slightly different top-speeds or acceleration. I've heard of folks who reported that their stock Prairie ran 58 mph top-speed when stock (LIKE MINE!) and others who claim theirs will run 70 plus mph when stock...I suppose it just has to do with the slight variances that occur during the manufacturing process which result in some quads being faster than others...in any case, its entirely possible that you happened to get one of the faster P650 quads from Kawasaki and the guy you raced happened to get one of the "slow" BF750 quads...of course, any mods you had would also make a difference when racing him and also its conceivable that the BF you raced is not fully broke in yet (it will likely increase speed once its fully broke in).
Happy trails...

those speed differences could be from speedometer vs. gps readings or radar or even from guys that were just flat out full of it though. I can get 69 out of my speedometer downhill, but like 64 max on a GPS. The speedometer lies on just about everything I think. There were guys back when the Grizz 600 came out claiming it would do 70. No chance. Dirtwheels has made a claim that a Scrambler 500 would do 67 on radar, and in a test like a year later it was like 58 that time around.
