Default Will this Brute Force repair hold up?

Hey anyone,
I noticed a bunch of grease on the inside of my wheel. Upon closer investigation I found the little clamp that goes around the boot had come off. I could not get it back on. So, I bought some zip-ties and replaced it with one of those. Is that OK to do? What is that clamp? What tool do I need to put those clamps on and what are those clamps where can you buy them if I should be using those. I did a test run and that zip-tie held so far. Here is a link to a picture I took of the repair. Thanks for any replies.

Take it back to your dealer and make them replace it under warranty. Any dirt in a CV boot will destroy the joint.

ok, thanks guys. crap, a 30 mile drive... Hope this isn't an omen. I had it out on Sat and drove it pretty hard up the side of a pretty steep mountain for about an hour. These are all very old skid roads cut 40 years or more ago and no one uses them because it is on private property, very rough riding. I really gave the thing a work out and I think that is when the boot lost that clamp. Also, I am hearing a noise, I don’t know if this noise has always been there but I hear some thing like a heat shield missing a bolt vibrating. I checked all the obvious but couldn’t find where the noise is coming from.

Yeah, I checked muffler/header shields first. It sounds like it is coming from the right side about half way to 2/3 back from the front. I only hear it when driving hard. At Idle or slow movement I hear nothing.

why dont you just put a big hose clamp on instead of using the zip tie?
