olemanmoses,
that would work for us. another trick is to get the electrode to point down on your car motor, this is called indexing the plug. they sell small washers to get the plug in the wright place. normally you would take a black marker and draw a line on the plug and install it. then you would put washers in as needed to get the plug facing the wright way. before they made the washers, they use to buy a whole case of plugs and try to find the wright one. being that they didnt start taping the hole in the same place.

I know you guys are gonna think im crazy, but i pulled the plug tonight and the center electrode was looking real good (pale white) but the last thread on the plug was black as usual---not thick heavy caked on black, just black enough that it takes a wire brush to get it off.

I got the ol chop wheel out and cut that electrode off as shown in the pictures with the link. Sanded the edges with sandpaper and gapped plug at .025"

I swear this thing is running a lot better---it even sounds different--seems to be thumpin real good and hard.

please tell me i'm not crazy??? The little guys in my head told me this would work---and they were right!!!

Hey,
I have been reading your threads for awhile now and have a few suggestions. Oh and I have a Praire 360 2003 4x4 as well. You mentioned that your 4 wheeler was cutting out when you made jet changes. Well all kawasaki engines have rev limiters on them and you were probably on it. Nothing as of yet you can do about that I do not think. Also almost all quads come lean on the low end from the factory and rich at the top end. So move your fuel mixture screw out 2.5 if you do not have a good exhaust and 3 if you do. Also that is a good move shimming the needle that just richens up the mixture at low rpm. Also HMF exhaust make a great pipe I just installed it this weekend and it has a great sound and cut 1/2 a second of of my times. Also I put an iridium plug, put synthetic oil in it, and had my exhaust tube coated with HPC ceramachrome to help flow and dissipate heat and added a twin air filter those combinations took another 1/2 of a second off of my times. So anyway just thought you might be interested.

Welcome aboard MOPAR MAN-----Pretty soon the 360 owners are gonna take over this board lol

your on the money with stock being lean on low end and rich on top---I have increased pilot jet one size and decreased main from a 155 to a 150-----I know i wasnt any where near the rev limiter on my cutting out, as I was way too rich on the mains---I am also still experiencing a performance increase with the new plug trick----nothing major, just pulling stronger than ever.

do you have a picture of what you did.

i dont quite understand what all you did. did you just cut the ground to expose more of the center electrode or did you rebend it then cut it?

the way i understand it side gap means the ground comes off to the side of the electrode correct?

please help me out as id like to try this

I used to that to my Honda minitrails, when I was a kid. I could swear that made it faster, but I couldn't be sure

PraireRider,
Well with the 360 there is only one choice so I chose that one. Exhaust is all about what you are wanting to do with your quad and what other modifications you are willing to do with the changes. I got lucky with the one they recommended in that it is not a radical change but well worth the money. I was worried about it being too noisy but at idle it is exactly the same and at mid to high throttle it sounds like the big boys. I like the sound at mid to high but my wife says it is "obnoxious". Just to give you an idea of the sound. Also I ordered the extra baffle, to keep the noise down but HMF said it would only lose a bit of power at the top top end. Oh and I just checked. www.hmfengineering.com and it looks like they only have one pipe for the 700 as well. Anyway they were nice guys and the pipe looks realy cool in addition to really working. They also have polishing and powdercoating available for yours. I also recommend getting a baseline time in a specific distance. The distance does not matter all you are looking for is how long it takes you to get there and then rechecking it after you make a modification. I always do it 3 times at least to try to weed out the timer error and get better consistancy. Making changes and not checking the difference is not for me, I have to know. Later
