Default P650 driven replacement

I got some good advice on how to fix my problems with my 02 burning belts and the cvt running hot. Now, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if I should replace the whole driven assembly or just the part with the sheeves/bushings. Also, if I should get the one for the 700 if it will fit. Mainly I need some help on the part number and a good source for it(driven assembly) my dealer didn't know or wouldn't say if the 700 would fit.

Thanks

i have bolth a brand new driiven clutch for a p700 w/black spring and rollers... the 700 clutch is just updated over the 650 ...i also have a new set of bushings and seals to rebuild a 650 driven clutch...the parts are backorderd from kawasaki as of a week ago.... part number for a complete clutch is...49094-0005....and list is $406.68........the bushings part #for a 650 is .....92139-1078....and are $6.50 ea ..and you need two of them....the seal part #92049-1528....and again you need two of them and cost$$9.03 ea.....you need to be carefull getting the old bushings out ...and you should use a press to install the neww bushings......or you will damage them.... the seals you can use a seal installer and a hammer ...just make sure you get them started stright........

Uh oh? You say your CVT runs hot because of bad secondary bushing?

Mine has been running hot. Looks like I need to get in there and check it.

I'm not an expert, I am just repeating what I have been told. The exhaust for the cvt comes out by the front of the seat, and after riding mine for just a few minutes it gets too hot to touch. Some one just suggested that it was the bushings in the driven. I need some more info if anyone has any other suggestions. I checked the deflection and set it a little tight with a new 700 belt, not too tight just on the tight side, and the belt lasted about 50 miles before the top cogs peeled off, and the remaining belt looked glazed over.

ICE... the same thing happened to mine, at about 1000 miles of hard use... as far as I know, the '03 - 650 & '04 - 700 use the same secondary... & will replace the '02's with no problems... the '03 & newer have been redesigned to change out the bushing, & I understood that the '02's didn't have a Kawi replacement bushing ( there were forum members of machinist back grounds that made them out of "oil light" )

TECH... is that the part number for the '02 bushing, or is it an '03 & newer bushing, & would the '03 bushing actually install in the '02 clutch, without modification ???

there are major differences in the Primary for the 700, & if you intended to order a pair of clutches ( like I did ), make sure that you get the 700 clutches... the 700 was just out, & parts lists were not available when I replaced mine, & I eneded up getting an '03 650 primary & secondary, & REALLY wish I had the 700 primary right now...

the bushings for the 650 and 700 should all be able to be replaced with the part numbers above.... but they did make upgrades with the new bf750 clutch , it is the same part numbers as the 360 650 and 700.thoo ...just the springs are diferent.....the drive clutch is the same too. between all of them....just the spring and the weights.....it is odd how they use a 360 drive spring in the 750 bf .....i'm a parts mgr at a kawasaki dealer that is how i know

Kawtech, is there any way you can give create a write up of what you know about the pulleys and such in a very easy to understand format so I can put it with the rest of the tech tips?

If I have an 02 650, can I install the 700 driven pulley> Will one half work or, or do I need both halves
If I have an 02 650, can I install the 700 drive pulley> Will one half work or, or do I need both halves

If I have an 03 650, can I install the 700 driven pulley> Will one half work or, or do I need both halves
If I have an 03 650, can I install the 700 drive pulley> Will one half work or, or do I need both halves

Does that bushing and seal fit the 02 driven and 023 driven?

first if i was to change yrars i would replace bolth halves...some of the halves have the same part number others don't.....same for springs and weights.....most you can interchange to get difrent results.......to commpile every thing would take to long but iff you want to know certon things i will try to help.....i can say all the clutches will interchange but for the springs and weights......and some halves will also ...the early 2002 650 had two difrent driven clutches and early and a latter one .....they would most likely be able to interchange but as for me i would not replace just one side of either clutch because of the wear grooves...i beleve it would be hard on the belt and cause odd shifting.....unless of course the other side has no wear....i also have the outside driven shev #59302-1097...if some one needs it ...it is in great shape but for the three holes on the outside that the holder tool goes in .....$100.00 shiped US.. it is off a late 2003 650......hope this helps
