Check Belt Light On 700 V
Every Weekend I ride my 700 V Force close to 100 miles In PA. My Check Belt Light is on now. I have two questions:
1.) How hard is it to tighten the belt? DO I decrease the deflection by removing shims on the driven pulley? DO I have to have any special tools? The belt seems really loose, I am almost able to pinch the belt between the two pulleys and it almost touches each side. Would it be a good idea to replace the belt if so with a Kawasaki belt or aftermaket one such as Dayco?
2.) How do I reset the light without taking the bike to the dealership.
Thanks,
Brian

I have had this happen to me as well
I think the belt light comes on the v-force after so many hours of riding.
there is no switch on these like the prarie, twin peaks or arctic cat
as far as the belt goes I went to the Dayco Hp2017 with excellent results.
the driven pulley is the one you want to remove the shims from
the shims are INSIDE the sheathes on the driven pulley NOT the shim or spacer under the spring.
Remove the driven pulley with 1 1/8 socket and just wiggle it off.
remove the spring from the back of the pulley assembly by taking out the retainer clip.
separate the pulleys ****mark the pulleys to correctly realign them****
inside the pulleys there are 4 small holders in side pop them out with a sharp screwdriver
inside are the spacers. remove the thicker one
Stock I had 2 shims, I removed 1 thick one and deflection was ~3/4 inch.
this worked very well for me

to reset the light:
take off your seat
by the fuel pump there are 2 harnesses Black/black & Gray/Gray
turn key OFF Disconnect Black Plugs and disconnect gray plugs.
Reconnect them to opposite colors Black to gray and gray to black.
TURN ON THE KEY belt light will flash.
reconnect as it was originally Black/black and gray /gray
hope this helps
