Before I get flogged, I tried to search for it, I'm sure its here. Search engine didn't like the keywords I guess
I know how big the rims are, whats the widest tire I can shoehorn under the 650 on stock rims?
Thanks- any disadavantage to "too" wide?

The widest tire your going to stuff under there are 12 " or you will be rubbing on the gas tank. I don't think you can get wider than 12" anyway.

ITP spidertracs are offered in 25X12.5X12 and I think there maybe others.

spidertracs are a good tire but they wear fast.

I like the looks of Maxxis Bighorns. 25X8X12/25X10X12

12 is as wide as your going in the rear. Bearclaws, spridertrac, and i beleive a tsl is offered in 12.5. spidertrac are also available in 13 and 13.5 but in short sizes. If you go with an outlaw you will rub the fuel tanks sheild on the rear. trust me. i had a set of 25/12 outlaws and they rubed but nothing to worry about. any other kind of tire will be just fine seeing as most don't have the side lug the outlaw has.

on the fron the widest you will get is 10's. Wider and you rub the struts and loose alot of handling.

If your going to do mostly trail riding go with a 25/8 front and 25/10 rear (go with one of the radials, atr, badlands, bighorns). If mostly mud is on the menu then a 28/10 28/12 will be the ticket (i beleive most 28's will fit with no lift an minimul rub). If you gonna mix mud and trail then i'd suggest 27/10 27/12 Maxxis Mudbugs (just my opinon).

good luck

Thanks Cart- Even tho' reality is mostly trail, I'm leaning to a mud looking tire in 26-27".
I'm giddy - I found an ATV recycle place 15 minutes from here, he's not in the phone book, not on the net- I just stumbled on to it.
Rolled past a painted sign "ATV's Motorcyles, Parts, Some New".
Did a bat turn into the parking lot. He's got a few thousand motorcyles, ATVs' off road oddballs AND tires and rims, used, discontinueds, shops that went out of business.
Talked to some guy standing outside to get the hours as they were locked up Saturday. He said theres a ton of stuff "out back" I'd need to walk around as they really dont know what they have. But he said there was a "ton of mud tires"
..oh joy, an ATV boneyard!! Rims, fenders, racks, tires and tires and more tires. If price is right I'd like to get two mounted sets! Mud and trail
