hey guys i was just wondering if you could help me out here. i was riding my prairie one day when all of the suddentit just dies on me. when i try to start it it cranks but wont start. i think its a valve problem or its just not getting enough gas as if the fuel filter is clouged or somethin.

The first thing that I would check is to see if the spark plug wire is still atached to the spark plug. Did you do anything to possibly flood the engine? If you did then try to start the engine with the throttle all the way down. I'm pretty much new to atv's so I don't know what else to tell you. hope you get it fixed, and that it's an easy fix!!!

air, fuel, spark............thats all it takes for these things to run.
I would remove the air filter & see if it starts......if not, give it a shot of starting fluid in the air intake, this will tell you if you are not getting fuel.......if neither of that works, yank the plug & check for spark,,,,,,one of these three will narrow your problem down every time.

If all else fails, not the plug, nothing clogged/broken, you could have low compression, has it ever been HOT? have you tried jump starting it?

Hey,
I ride every week-end and have had a lot of the same problems. I played with it and turns out it was getting too much air. I am a rigger sometimes so what I did was wrap a towel around the air filter and it ran a lot better. Since then I have adjusted the jetting depending on the temp I am riding at and it seems to do the trick. Good luck. If you find a cure let me know.
