Rear lights on ATV
#1
I have been doing a lot of night trail riding. I have found that backing up in the pitch black even with a tail light is somewhat of a difficult task. I would like to get a rear white light that illuminates the trail behind me. Is it possible to wire a 12V light into my tail light and mount it under my rear rack? I am not sure of the wiring to the tail light and if it will carry another light, 2001 prairie 400.

Your bike should have the red reverse light on the dash, just wire a relay with main power from the battery and the relay activated by the power to that reverse light, then run the relay out power to a backup light mounted under your rack. That way straight battery power is driving it, but its activated by the reverse light. It will only come on when in reverse and is really easy to use. worked great until I broke it off......

ya know..
I was thinking the same thing two night ago on a short ride.
I was thinking of putting a push type pole switch in the plastic thing that surrounds the shifter (sticking out enough where the shifter sits when in reverse) .
run the wire to a relay under the seat, and then to a back up light. It would only come on when in reverse and be a hands free rig.
thoughts?

i know that high lifter has 25w reverse light available on that on the bf's and i belive the p700's there is an extra wiring plug/connector (???) at the rear somewhere for a back up light no to sure tho...only what i heard..but even if not it would be easy to rig one up...
