Default KFX 700 for sometimes muddy trails? Rocky trails in Colorado like those between Aspen and Taylor?

I have been on other manufactures sites on this message board and feel that there are two ATV's for me. I have a Big Bear 400 4X4 for pure work. I now want a trail rider. The land I drive on is in Tyler Texas. Its forest with very loose sand and dirt. I seldom need 4X4 but there is the occasional mud bog. Its a thick black clay type stuff that sticks to tires real well. I have decided that the only 4X4 trail ride is the Scrambler. It has a 500 cc engine and real 4 wheel drive. Its not light and does not have the power of the 700. But it does ride like a sport bike. My favorite ATV is the KFX 700. I want it real bad. I just don't want to get stuck in every muddy spot I come to. If that happened, I would be extremely heart broken. Not to mention wife would kill me if I had to trade it in for something else.
So what is your experience? Have you tried the KFX on rocky trails like those in Colorado? I ride between Taylor Park and Aspen.
Thanks for the impressions.
Shawn

I'm looking for the same, except I cant decide weather to buy a KFX700 or the Brute force. I dont haul or work with my atv now. I just want to have some great trail fun without getting stuck in the mud or snow.

I have ridden with some sport quads on the rocky trails here (Colorado) and they get through the medium to mild stuff ok but the lack of clearence and 4x4 makes them have to work allot harder to do it. To me there is no doubt my next quad will be IRS/4x4/EFI as I want the clearence and better ride in the rough stuff. I am yet to see someone on a sport quad go in the mud - around it yes (this is just what I have seen). I have seen them go though puddles and creeks but not real muddy ones - they just watch the 4x4s play.

I ride my V-Force in the mountains of Idaho and with the heavy skids I take it through some pretty ruff and rocky areas. With the hole shots it does better than the other sport quads in mud , but the tires hold it back. It does not mind pretty deep water. I have seen several of them with mudlites or sur tracks on the back and they have handled some pretty good mud. They won't bogg in the 2ft deep goop but a small mud hole they can handle. No chain to worry about cleaning and mant. on with mud either.

I have the V force and love it. While the stock tires are not made for mud it surly holds its own. I have takin it through some really deep stuff. the trick is to keep your speed up and not stop in the sloppy stuff. I have always had 2wd and done fine I live in south texas black dirt. You can't putt around but with an agressive entry it is no problem. There is so much power the tires just keep it goin. Fun stuff I love my V.

Daranello75 I'm not real sure how much further but I would guess about 25 extra miles on trails. Adds about 30 minutes worth of hard riding in the dunes before it needs gas. I would guess I can go between 60 and 75 miles on a full tank depending on the trails and how hard we ride.

How does the ride compare to the sportsman's? I've ridden the sportsman and they ride really nice but are very heavy. Is the KFX just as soft?
