Mojave piston ring problem
#1
My Mo has been consuming large quantities of oil. It also fills the airbox up with oil and I have to pull the drain plug often.
So I pulled the top end down.
The rings are within specs. Specs being .008-.014 for the top 2 rings and .008-.028 for the oil rings. My specs are .009 for the top2 and .024 for the oil rings.
The oil rings seem to have lost their tension. They will fall down the cyl.
What causes this?
My intake camshaft is flat. Gotta replace it and the follower.
Cyl looks fine, even still has the hone marks. Gonna hone it and install new rings anyway.
I also plan on removing the stock airbox disaster and hanging an airfilter off the carb. Any problems with doing this?
