I know it was already mentioned but I would still bet the rad is or was dirty.I always put a trouble light behind the radiator and look thru the front to make sure I can see thru the ENTIRE radiator.I have an 02 and have never overheated.I also use water wetter..I do know the Kaw shop manual say to elevate the machine in the front and add coolant SLOWLY to avoid trapped air.Just in case you do add/change coolant.

kissofdeath has his side panels removed and he hasnt had any trouble. He kept the front ones on though. i can see through the rad. and i havent replaced the therm. or the waterpump. i'll this prob. it may take longer than i'd like but i will fix it
