IRS or Solid Rear Diff (BF750 P700)
Hey guys...
As a newbie to the world of recent Quads, I turn to you fellow for answers! I'm currently in the market for a new Quad, last Saturday was spent visiting local dealers to see what each brand had to offer! When I set out on this day, I had 3 Manufacturers in mind. Honda, Bombardier and Yamaha in mind. In that particular order of preference. I was set out to see what a Rincon had to offer but being a little leery of the Automatic tranny... First stop was a Bombardier shop, after being greatly disappointed with any of the bikes I tried at that dealer by weird noises, poor handling and disappointed in power delivery. Ever so eager to try out a Honda we left for an next dealership. Once there, so anxious to try out this Rincon, I jumped to the opportunity to test drive this beast. After a brief ride I came back disappointed. This big bore was a little bit short of steam for my liking! My next visit was, so I thought, to a Yamaha dealership. To my surprise this place was actually Kawasaki shop, my thoughts were "well what the heck we are here, why not check it out".
Well... to my great surprise, I was impressed with the engineering and technology, not to mention the thought of a twin! Little did I know the surprise that was next to come... a test drive of a P700. WHOOOOOOOOOOO nothing like any other manufacturers. All this to say, am I ever glad to have checked out what I considered the "off brand"
So... now my dilemma is not which manufacturer to chose, but what model to pick! My main usage will be trail riding often 2 up. The dealership is recommending the P700 for its solid rear diff prone to be better for 2 up riding. He says that it should be a safer and better ride mostly in corners because of the tendency of IRS to lean! Can somebody back that up... Is there any big "Fixes" on the BF750 that are worth while... is the redesigned fuel path delivery and bigger carbs worth the 1500$ CDN in my case.
Any info will be much appreciated

I just traded up to a Brute Force from a Praire 650. The power is wicked awesome, the ride is smoother but not ultra plush like polaris. It handles differently than the Praire, doesn't power slide, it digs down. The engine breaking has been increased, the tank is larger and the heat that comes from this motor is crazy. I can feel the heat radiate from under the plastic, the exhuast and the rad. It runs alot hotter than my P650 did.
I have only gone for one ride so far, only about 1 hour. It was a nice ride, trying different things out, checking things out. I think it was a good choice for me, I still have my sport quad for aggressive driving and jumping.
The tippy feeling of IRS is usually all in your head, it feels like the rear tire is off the ground but its not. For two-up riding IRS gives a nicer ride but will loose clearance. SRA will keep the clearance but give a rougher ride. I would go for the IRS, unless you drive aggressively, sliding around and lots of jumping.
Where in Canada do you live? Good luck with whatever your buying, have fun.

I agree with what has been said so far...comfort go with IRS...more sporty and powersliding go with straight.
I would wait and week before I closed the deal and check out the Suzuki King Quad...they have been on a roll lately producing very competitive quads in practically every atv line at a good price.
King Quad supposedly has a very strong and torquey 700...efi (no jetting) ... IRS with sway bar and lower center of gravity for better stability and cornering capabilities...supposed to be solid all around and comes in cheaper than the brute. Supposed to hit the dealer at the end of September i believe.

I don't know about the power difference really. I drove my P650 with outlaws for over a year and I don't know how it feels stock anymore. I won't have my outlaws on my Brute Force so I won't be able to compare. From what I have read the Brute is fair bit faster stock for stock. Also the Brute has more detuned power than the Praire, if you were to unleash that power the difference would increase even more.
