Fix Winch Cable
#1
Got my winch cable snarled up and ended up being half torn up so I had to cut the cable about seven feet from the end for safety sake...
Not really a problem the cable cut well and I bronzed the tip of the cable so that it wouldn't fray (just barely worked - don't know if it was me or the cable) and then i just ran the end of the cale the the hook and used to 1/8th (inch) cable clamps to hold the cable secure. My problem is that the cable clamps (they are as small as possible) won't fit throught the fair lead and I'm looking for a better way to fix the cable. Because the clamps won't fit through the fairlead I don't like where the cable is riding now.
Any suggestions - was I going the right direction trying to use bronze or something - maybe if I laid the two cable ends together it would work - I just don't know (plus I'd like it to look half respectable when I'm done.
Thanks

I totally understand what you are saying - the low winch placement on these bikes is great for pulling but less than ideal when you want to get to your cable - for the most part my problem is not having anywhere good to hook it on my 04 STP without beating up the grill on the machine - thanks though....
