Just got my safety recall today. Hope it is not a big deal for me to get it fixed.

 

I got my notice as well. When i got my quad so many nuts and bolt where loose that I went over the entire quad myself. I WILL NOT be taking mine to the stealership who should have checked over the bolts when the quad was un-crated

 

So what was this "safety notice" all about anyway? Was it a simply reminder to check your nuts/bolts for tightness?

Got mine yesterday. It's for the nut on the front upper a-arm pivot shaft. Apparently they can come loose during operation. I checked mine and sure enough it was loose. I replaced with a lock nut along with some loc-tight on both sides. Checked all other suspension bolts all were tight.

This letter is sent to notify you that Kawasaki, in cooperation with the U.S.
Consumer Product Safety Commission, has initiated a voluntary safety Recall
Campaign to inspect the upper suspension pivot bolt on Brute Force 750 4x4i
models.

On some eligible units, the nut which secures the front upper suspension arm
pivot bolt could come loose during vehicle use. Continued use of the vehicle
could allow the nut to come off and the upper suspension arm pivot bolt to
partially back out, resulting in a loss of steering control and creating the
potential for an accident resulting in injury or death.

Your Kawasaki dealer will correct this problem for you at no charge. The
correction will consist of inspecting the upper suspension arm pivot bolt and
making necessary repairs. The actual repair will take up to one hour but may
take longer due to scheduling at the dealership and the time needed to obtain
required parts.

DO NOT RIDE YOUR ATV UNTIL THE REPAIR HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

 

Here's a good story about the recall. My father inlaw owns the Brute Force 750. He was up bear hunting Sept. 17th. He was going up a hill when the pivot bolt came off of the unit. The quad flipped over backwards. He ended up with a broken collarbone and was lucky he wasn't killed. He took the quad to the dealer to have it fixed when they notified him of the recall. He received the letter on the 24th. He called Kawassaki and told them what happened. They are sending him a form to fill out explaining what happened and at the bottom they said there is a spot to write in what he felt was a fair compensation amount!! Sounds to me like he will be getting a nice check from Kawasaki. Anyone have a clue as to how much he should ask for? Just curious.

 

Would be nice if they reimbursed him for the quad and all medical expenses.
When they did my recall they said the spacing on that particular bolt could of been off not allowing it to torque properly all they have to do is check the spacing and correct and retorque. All they need is an hour or less. We as ATV consumers need to start pushing for longer warranties on these things with the prices rapidly approaching $10,000 Dollars with nothing but a 6 month warrantee? Artic Cat is advertising a 2 year right now hopefully this will start them all competing on warrantees.

 

I would'nt accept a penny without first contacting a personal injury Lawyer and discussing this broken collerbone your father in-law has.

A busted collarbone has got to be worth BIG BUCKS!
