Default Jumping on a P700

Hey anyone seen a problem with frame cracks due to jumping on the P700?

I've done a few 10'+ flybys and the landings are fairly rough.... I didn't realize how rough until I watched the video in slow motion... the entire bike bottoms out including the tires!! If anyone knows a way to shrink hiquality video, and a place to host it, I've got some good video of my P700 airborn!! Is the prairie a jumper?
I saw the stripped down frame in a shop and it DONT look like the sport quad next to it.

FYI: I can't say that I've ever heard of frame cracking on the P650/P700 due to jumping, but I have heard plenty of times that the front shock towers tend to bend easily if you jump while the front rack is removed...the ft. rack provides support to these shock towers and is very important to gusset them or use a support bar (like the one Mike P. sells) if you remove the front racks and intend to do any jumping.

Happy trails...

Thanks for the FYI Mikey... I always keep my racks on, but I'll look into a support brace anyway. From looking at the frame, it seems the area right where the mid frame/engine area, and rear frame intersect looks like a weak joint area.... I guess I could double brace it with gussets just in case.

CWG.... Ohh yeah, the Prairie can jump no problems.. it's the landings that take some work! You ahve to crank the rear springs a few notches to keep from killing yourself..and don't even think about jumping more then a couple feet int he air with the stock front springs... even with my Progressive springs... at 10'+ it still bottoms out at the mid setting... Of course the stock Duncrap tires REALLY suck!! I need to invest in some ATR's or something..... I've added a profile page, and a few jumping pics when they post it. You can see it bottomed out on a landing..even the tires look flat!! lol

My bighorn radials just arrrived, off to the wallytire to get 'em mounted.
and NO jumping for me...well, right now anyhow...we'll see how much trouble the tires cause (new tire=bigger holas equation)

I've see & heard of a few rear axel housings breaking, from bottoming out big air jumps... I highly recommend the V Force rear axel reinforcing ring be added ( it's cheap )... along with the hitch, you'll have the strongest rear end available... you will need to replace the bolts with 1/4 inch longer bolts from the hardware store, as Kawi doesn't have long enough bolts to run both the hitch, & the reinforcing ring... ( you can pull out one of each size ( there are 2 ), & take them in to insure you get the right size )... I mounted the reinforcing ring on the outside of the hitch tabs, doing this requires a few washers for vspacers, for the bolts that don't have hitch tabs on them... there is a pic of my rear end in the pics in my bio... you can see by clicking the camera... ( my custom reciever hitch is just a section of square tube slit & welded on the stock hitch, so what you are seing, is how it would mount up on yours )... if you use a floor jack to take the weight off the rear wheels, you can pull all the bolts needed without spilling a drop of rear diff fluid...

Ive gotten some pretty good air on my Prairie as well, Just this past weekend I was flying down a woods trail around 50 Plus MPH on a wide open outside line looking to pass a buddy when a 3 foot jump showed up.~LOL Short cuts and do that to you sometimes~LOL. I hate going flyin when your not ready for it!~lol. When I first bought my Prairie, The only place under 3 hours for me to ride in an MX park. Ive taken my 250R there many times, But they loved when I showed up with my Prairie a few times. The Prairie in no way is made for the track! The Prairie weights 600 pounds plus the weight of the rider, If you do A LOT of jumping sooner of later things will start breaking! Just like The V-force, IMO there are areas of the frame as well as the stock suspension that don't make the quads great jumpers with out a little help. The Prairie even with the SRA is still a woods machine. But Its worth taken to the track once and given a try if you got the itch?-lol ~coop

COOP... I was just checking out your pics...WOW!!! ... that's a big, straight, long hill... you made it up I assume... I probably go up hills with that much elevation change, where I regularly train, but they are rocky, twisted & covered with trees... out in the open like that must be quite the rush...

I've gotta bunch of good photos on the marylandatv.com web site. The BIG Coal hills? If thats what you are talking about? are owned by the lighter weight Sport Quads R's, Shee's, Big Bore TRX's etc. etc, are really the only quads that can climb them. We call the Hill on my Photo Page Hill #1 and there are only a few in our group that have made it. I did it Only once on my 250R. Ive tried some almost as big, but not as steep on the Prairie, but weight comes to to play to much and the big quads just in up sinking in the coal. There are some other hills even Bigger and Steeper we have names for like Mission Impossible! where there are very few if any that have ever made them on a quad. There are some CR500's and maybe a few Quadzilla's or something like that with paddle tires that have. Most riders just look down from the tops and say things like WOW!, SICK! and you'll never see me even try something like that!-lol. Althose Pictures don't always do them justice. We had Metalikev and his brother Fiffthhorseman from the forum here join us for last weekends hurricane ride and they can tell you when you see the some of theses hills in person, Most peoples do-dads kind of suck up inside, and you wonder where your ***** went?~LOL. I know some stuff Ive gone up I wonder why did I do that or even tried?~LOL I know there is one Motorcycle Hill I wont try again, I think?~lol.. Coop

PS: BTW- It looks like I'll be buying My buddies 785V-Force that Mickey built!
So I guess I'm joining the BBV Gang! Who know what hills I might try???
