Default oil spewing from breather hose 03' P650

Was hunting this weekend just puttin around a field, about 70degrees out, all of a sudden I smell oil burning. Oil coming from the crankcase breather hoses under my gauge pod. What could possibly be causing this? I haven't rolled it over or anything either. There is a gas smell on the oil, could that choke plunger or whatever be causing that much gas to go into my oil and overflow the crankcase? The oil doesn't seem that gassy though, just a little. I've been meaning to fix that spring but haven't got around to it yet, it was sitting for awhile with the gas on.

On my P700 the crank case breather is in the air box,if they are the same I doubt that you could see any oil under the pod unless it came out the air snorkle but if it was running I would think it would be sucked through the engine.

If the oil was coming from under your gauge pod... this is the hook up for all your vent lines, but as ASNOW said, the crank case vent routes to the filter box, & would not leak out by the gauge pod... if you are leaking fluid out of the vent lines, you'll need to figure out which one, & then why... the front diff & rear diff vents are there, along with some others... my 1st guess is that perhaps you got water into the front or rear diffy, or that the rear brake is set too tight, & heating up enough, that the fluid is leaking...

the engine oil is sensitive to over filling, & has been know to pump out some oil into the filter box, if it is too full, or if gas has leaked in & raised the level, or if extended riding, at W.O.T.

I just had the same problem on my '03 650, had fouled the front spark plug and that caused some gas to go to the crankcase... To fix mine it was as simple as putting in new spark plugs and changing the oil and filter... It seems that you can foul the spark plugs and not really know it, I didn't lose much power, and it wasn't "skipping"... I don't use mine a lot and I think that is why I didn't notice it sooner...

Leaving your gas petcock on for extended periods or on while transporting your Quad is the quickest way to get Gas in your Oil

I've owned many bikes, atvs, sleds in over 20 years, I've never had to shut a gas valve off ever. So its a hard habit to learn. This is however the first Kawi I've ever owned. I'm working on the fix so I dont' have to, apparently a spring plunger kit upgrade is avail from Kawi if your machine is an 02' or some 03' do this. The PN is 16016-1117, its a better spring. Also I guess you can mod the venting. See Nyroc's site for more info.

Goldbug, it sounds like you could be experiencing the same thing, could've fouled your plugs.
