Default Diff lock won't lock

I did a search and read what I could find but I can't get my diff lock to lock. I've adjusted it to 7lbs. pull at .5" from handlebar and nothing. I mean both wheels spin but I put my foot on one and it will stop spinning. I pull the diff lock and nothing. It won't start to spin. One thing I did notice is where the diff lock cable goes into the front diff it doesn't move much at all. Can anyone tell me how much movement they get when pulling the diff lock at the front diff? Mine barely moves, maybe that's normal but I had never looked at it before. I noticed it acting up the last two times out mudding. Sometimes it would work and most of the time it wouldn't. Any ideas?? Thanks....

Thanks mudmagnet. That was going to be my next item to check but didn't have time last night. I'll be checking that tonight.

even a slightly low level causes this problem. I found this out the hard way. Good luck.
