Default K&N airfilter lakota sport!!!

Ok someone want to help me out. In my denniskirk it says the following. Since kwackermann gave the the size of the lakota carb i went and looked in my denniskirk and found this. i think that this is the size i would have to get, and if anyone has the mag it's on page 437 at the bottom and the headline says-

Universal Round/Straight Filters K&N factory filters

Flange Flange DIA (in.) Length (in) Flange Pos. Part number Price
inches mm 3 1/2 4 Angled 5 degrees 30-514 $37.992 1/8" 54

... Vunit, the mojave carb is 34mm where as the Lakotas' is 32mm. But that is the carburetors internat measurement and not the outer snout as pictured so I believe that a filter that would fit the mojave carb should also fit the Lakota's.

I was thinking of another idea tonight and was thinking that what if i drill out little holes on my stock air box so more air can come in since i do have a high performance pipe it will go out just as quick. They would be very small so i'm not to worried about water and stuff getting in but will it give me better performance than just having it with the stock air box. I am really about this whole clamp on thing and read something that i didn't like to hear much. I know that the stock set up sucks but i just got the twin air a month ago and my parents want me to chill with that a few months. I'm talking to them about the shock i think that i am going to get that.

That's a good idea Vunit. with the clamp on filter you'll need to ditch the entire airbox. Something I once thought about wasdrilling some sizeable holes in the lid of the airbox- the one that holds the filter in place. This way you still breath thru the filter, while allowing for a more judicious airflow. This should off a good compromise between noise and breathability, because when ya ditch the airbox- it's loud.

alright guys first of all thanks for the info on the measurements for the clamp on. And secondly, I don't have any clear current pics of the lakota. I lost my picture phone and don't have a digital camera, so go figure. I'll see if my friend lend me his so i can post some up.

kwackermann what size drill bit should i use to drill out little holes on the airbox cover. I want them to be some what small but at the same time some what big for more air flow am thinking of a 3/16 drill bit or is that to small or to big. Also today my friends and i were thinking of a another possiblity, what if i get a outerwear cover that replaces the stock airbox lid. It would be a nice touch but i know they don't make one for the lakota but what about the mojave because lakota's and mojave airboxes are the same so maybe i would order a mojave outerwear.

i don't think the outerwear is a typical one I think it's a foam one like the second coarse layer on a uni 2 stage filter could be wrong though

Well in my latest ATV Sport mag. they have the outerwear on the top of a YFZ450 airbox and it replaces the stock airbox lid. It looks like it protects more but gives better performance at the same time. So that's why i was thinking of that.

.. Helo Vunit, the size of drill bit for the airbox cover over the filter that I was originally thinking was 3/8 or 5/16 for my quad when I was thinking of it. The good thing with this mod is that you can always get a new airbox lid on ebay or so if you're gonna go water running like thru ponds and stuff.........

Thanks kwackermann, so do you think that this would be a good idea, and will it damage the quad in anyway.
