What's the difference?
#1
... I was on the Maier site recently checking out what color of fenders were available and noticed listings for a Bayou 300 4x4 and a Bayou 300B 4x4. What's the business with the 'B'? Is there a difference?

The letters following the description refer to the model of the Quad - Mine is a 98 300 4x4 - KLF300 C . I'm not really privy to all the differences in models, so I really dont know if there is a difference, Im sure there must be or they would only be selling one type. Might try to get ahold of a tech rep at Maier.

If kawi was using the same naming conventions on your quad as they have on other bikes, the letter designation will change either from year to year, or with minor variations to the model. It's been a few years since I thought about it, but I believe it was from year to year. For instance, when they first released the zx600 ninja, the actual model was a zx600-A1. Subsequent releases of the same bike were actually named A1 through A3, -B, -C, etc. The bike was 99% the same from year to year and essentially only the plastic colors were changed along with small fixes. Parts were interchangeable between them. When they made an actual update, the letter designation changed. They did this until 1993 when they released the E1 model. The E had physically different plastic and a big jump in horsepower over the previous D model, and depending on which manual you read, the E is also listed as the 1st year for the zx6R. At that time you could still purchase a new D model, which was the entry level bike for that time. In I believe 1995 Kawi officially released the zx6R, which was again not much different from the E model. The last time I looked at a 600cc bike from kawi, the now entry level zx600 being sold is still essentially the E model although I believe it's now an F or a G, and appeared to be mostly unchanged from 1993.
