2000 Lakota Mods.?
#11
step ahead ride. I found Rocky Mountain ATV who had the jet kit in stock. They did not have the power package in one kit but they had everything that goes in it! $20 cheaper too. Called all around for that pipe. NO ONE has it. Rocky's supplier does though and they will have it drop shipped right to me. $40 cheaper on the pipe too. Turned out for the best. I did have a few other questions for you though. I posted them on SEPT. 6. in the morning(diff. post than the jet question). Check them out if you would. Thanks again for the info. BTW: I am around 700' above sea level. So the 134 is what you think I should try 1st? Thanks again for all the info.

hey dude i've done the mods. ids2. k&n, jet kit w/the 138, 6 1" air box filters ( in the snorkel) didn't need any mods to the air box. had to work with the pipe for best fit. douglas .190's front w/maxis pros. .190's rear w/20" standard holeshots. front set weighs 1 lb less per wheel. rears weigh the same as stock. its a little faster than it was but not a hole lot will not beat 2 friends wolverines in a drag race. but can in the woods have fun

Bob,
Please do me a favor and filter out some of the garbage people tell you on these forums. I mean come on.. Filters in the Snorkel? They would stick into the snorkel 1 Inch and would defeat the purpose. Anyways you need to stop comparing the Lakota to the faster bikes. The only way it will ever be is if you do Stage 4 mods to it. You are talking $2000 + . As for tires the #1 tire is the ITP XCT Holeshots.. Ask the experts they will tell you the same thing..
I have to run...
99 Team Green Lakota
350 FST Stroked Big Bore running race fuel, CPE Race Porting, Edelbrock Quicksilver Carb, K&N, Dyno-JET, 4 Durablue Spacers, Renthal Bars, Motion Pro Kill, XCT Holeshots on Douglas,DG Exhaust & Head Pipe, Custom Seat cover, 14t Sprocket, RK Chain, and the list keeps going....

Hey Ride,
Some people!
Do you think I should still remove that rubber piece on the cowl right above the snorkel. Would that help in letting more air in? As far as those tires go, I hear they do okay in mud and snow too, that sounds great to me. I've been checking around for them. Do you think I should go with the stock size or do you recommend other sizes? If so, what sizes do you think would be best? When jumping your achine or just trail riding, how do the Holeshot XCT's ride? Do they land as soft and smooth as the originals or are they alot stiffer? I am also curious about the Dura Blue wheel spacers. Did you think they made a nice difference? Is this something I should look into as well? Oh yeah, how much did that 350 kit cost you and how do you like that Edelbrock carb.? As always your answers are more than appreciated. Thanks Dude.
ps. I would like to see some pics of your machine too.

I don't like holeshots myself
I've owned 2 pair. Both sets were 6 ply rated.
They wore out in under 10 hours of ridding!
If you like mud maxxis sur-traks are good, i had them on my blaster. A ton of traction!
Fast Trekkers are good, bandits are good.
Holeshots also are no good in the mud or snow. I had a really hard time with snow with mine

Well once again Bob you have alot of questions... Lets see the pics are coming but I am not taking them until I set the Bike up for the sand. The "Sac-Up Racing Crew" will be taking a trip to Pismo Beach Ca next month, and it will be off the hook. Sac-Up includes...
2 Highly Modified 250r's
2 Highly Modified 400ex's
1 350 Lakota (mine)
1 Highly Modified 300ex
1 Stock Yellow 400ex
Bob I actually never got that Edelbrock Carb I had to actually have my Stock carb modified by CPE Racing in Sacramento.
To be honest the Xct Holeshots are not near the best for Mud/Snow, but it is the #1 track tire. They hook up amazing. I ran the 23" in the front and 22" in the rear. And once again you need to filter some of those other stores, because I have over 10 runs on mine, and they still stand taller than some of the others do.. brand New. As for the spacers the feeling/ride is just totally different.
My 350 kit is running me a little bit over $1000.
Plus the head port/flowing, carb mods, jetting, and engine assembly, your talking big bucks.
The rubber piece covering your Snorkel does serve a purpose, if you are going to be in a lot of water, but if not it just actually restricts air.
WEll I am always here for you questions....

Ride,
Sorry to pound you with so many questions. You can see my frustrations that I have with all of these and no one could ever answer them. Thanks. However, I have a few more! Surprised? 1 is about the spacers, you stated that made it feel different. Was this a good thing a great thing or just different. Do you recommend them? Regarding tires though I think I am going to go with the Maxxis Sur Tracks in rear and the Pro's up front. They seem like they will fit the bill for my terrain and they look pretty good too, I think anyway. Something else I am concerned about is the chain slack. I have it around 1.75". When I come off a jump with about 2 1/2 feet of air I have a smack I hear when I land. I think it is the chain smacking the guards. Why does the Lakota have to have so much slack? My friends 400EX doesn't require this much nor does my other buddies 400 Scrambler. The 400EX is more similar to the swing arm though as on the Lakota. What do you think I can do or does yours also do this? (now you can see with what I ride with why I want more power. I know I know it'll never be there without a couple thou. in mods. But I can reduce the gap! right!?)
I heard something else too, about the carbs.. I read that a 300EX card on this machine will provide much quicker throttle response. Is this true and it a "direct bolt on" with no other mods.? Or will the jet kit (134)and pipe give me the response I am looking for.
Nothing of any real importance, but curious of what you think, will this thing will pull a wheelie with the mods. I am going to perform. BTW: THEY SHOULD BE IN TODAY.
Thanks for spending so much time on my questions!
