Default P650 26" Mud-lites vs. Dirt Devil XT tread wear???

Hi all,

I have read a zillion forums on these two tires and think either will work for me and the type of riding I do...mountain trails, minimal asphalt, desert riding and some ROCKS thrown in...(you heard the one about when God made the earth He had a lot rocks left over, so he piled them up and called it UTAH?!) I have have some experience with the 25" Dirt Devils, but zero with the Mud-Lites.

It sounds like the Mud-lite guys love their tires and the Dirt Devil guys love theirs. My question is...has anyone run both? Specifically 26" or bigger (deeper tread). I have been concerned about tread wear with the Mud-lites, but I read where one guy had 1400 miles on his and they still had 1/2 of the tread. Any thoughts??? I wouldn't mind the lighter tire, but is the 26" Mud-lite all that lighter than the 26" Dirt Devil XT?

Thanks in advance,

Larry

I ran 25 DD and 26 Mudlight I prefer the mudlights however I think I would have been happier with 26 DD instead of 25. No complaints on wear on Mudlights here, I have close to 4,000km on mine Mudlights, some were rotting from the inside out thou.

A riding buddy has the mudlites and they are great tires. The DD's have had mostly good reviews too.

The only wear issue I would worry about is if your doing a lot of hardpack trails or pavement. many of us have to take the streets / railroad track beds o get to the trails and this does kill the tires.

If you can get to your trails and stay on the grass or fields then either tire would work great and should last a while.

If you go ITP's web site they have a weight comparison chart on the MudLite page.

Thanks for the info. Looks like the Mud-Lites in the 26-12x12 size weigh 26.7# vs. 29.1# for the Dirt Devils. I don't know if I'd notice 2.4# on each rear tire and probably less than that on the front 26-10x10 size. And yes, I do have to run several miles at times on a paved road to get to our riding area. You can almost watch the tread disappear on the stock Dunlops, but the Dirt Devils were much better here. Bottom line is I'm willing to try the Mud-Lites, but am concerned about the comments about treadlife. (Maybe I'll have to try a set and do my own side by side comparison.
