Tecate or Mojave?
They stopped making the T4 in the late 80's so if it's a 1998 it can't be a T4, and if you dont have to mix oil and gas than there is a big chance that it's a 4 stroke and not a 2 stroke. Could be a mojave, lakota, or like you said a tecate but the year might be 1989 instead of 1998. Also any quad can be loud if it has an aftermarket pipe or a broken pipe. Not to much we can say because they not enough infomation. If you get some more info than we can help you out more.

best thing to do is call the dealer on kawasaki s and ask what year it is they made the tecates and if you look on the frame it should have an sticker that tells the year or size 250 or 125 ..... on the wire harnes some where up towards the gas tank is the only two spots i know of they put a sticker that says the years on the bike most mojaves have it this way mine is in front left side by the top a-arm in middle actually between the a-arm connectes to the frame.........hope this helps and best of luck
