Remember the first Prairie......

Anyone remember the forst Prairie? Back in '83, it was a 250cc 3- wheeler in your truely, red. Also had a cool bottom link type of a front suspension. Does anybody have one, still?

Yes, I remember it well.It was the best thing out there back then.It had a ridgid front fork and the front tire pivoted on that spring contraption kawasaki designed. Also the rear end was able to be driven with one wheel or for maximum traction driven by both wheels.I loved three wheelers.it's a shame most people that rode them didn't have a clue as to what they were doing. So once people started getting hurt they went bye bye in a hurry.I had the best times back in the day with my 3 wheelers. 84 KLT 110-85 Tecate 250-85 Klt 110 w/front susp.

Alright, I had one of those for a little bit. I got rid of it cause I didnt really know how to ride it. I traded a guy it for some work I did. That thing was kind of fun. Sold it on ebay for a decent profit though.

Funny, this topic came up. I rode last weekend with my uncle who had a black 83 Prairie. I could not believe how good of shape it was in and it purred on a kitten. He got it stuck in the river up to the top of the back tires and continued to spin his way through. Very impressive engineering in that bike. Like the flip up rack that covered the large storage compartment.

Wow-- that's really cool. I was starting to think that the lockable rear diff was just a gimmick- because a solid axle performs the same when locked. I guess I was wrong. Guess I was too young to care at the time either way anyhow........
