Default Belt awfull tight but still tripping switch!

I just removed all of my shims and deflection is very small. When I nail it the switch trips. The quad will roll forward in gear that is how tight the belt is. WHen I was last in there I notice the little hook shaped guard could easily be moved from its stock location. Could my switch be bad? Also someone said to bypass this switch. Is it normally opened or closed? Do I just cut the wires and wirenut them together?

Vtwin did you get this problem fixed? Mine done this with only 50 miles on it . I checked and rechecked the belt i read in the book that if the switch was tripped that it could damage it. I had a 02 650 and the switch got tripped but reshimed the belt and reset everythnig and no more problems. On the 04 700 not the same outcome so i just bypassed the switch with a male spad connector and taped it up works fine. Good luck!!

Great!!! How is it holding up? I just ordered one to try it out i pulled a guy out the other day and it started to pull me in so i gave her a little gas ,but yet not enough before belt spun on the clutch . It ate up a spot in the belt i thoughht that i broke the trans mission.
