Default Paddle tire question

I plan to put 22'' Skat trac Haulers on V rims at all 4 corners on my Prairie. How many paddles do I want, 7, 8 or 10?

Hmmm.... Never seen that set-up before. I would go with 8 paddles.1 question though, haulers are straight cut right? I would go with V-Shaped if you want to turn that bad boy!

Default Paddle tire question

There's a difference in the way that they handle? Can I go with the straight cut in the rear, and the v cut in the front? I'm a newbie to paddles!

Default Paddle tire question

aren't those Scat Tracs for 10" wheels... if they are, there are several issues with 10" wheels on the fronts... I, or MIKEYBOY, I'm sure would be happy to help you out here, if you were not aware...

I run 25" X 10" X 12" Paddlemasters, & can run 8 of them if I'd like... as far as the number of paddles, if you are running 22" all the way around, I'm betting that you'd have the power to run the 10 paddles, & that will help overcome some of the weight of the Prairie...

I never get to ride the dunes, But personally see no reason you couldn't run the V paddles in the front, & straights in the rear, on a 4 X 4 quad, as long as the O.D. of the tires was the same... you may be able to find a 22" V paddle for 1a 12" rim, but I think they are all made for the smaller wheels...

Default Paddle tire question

I ride the dunes all the time and you don't want a lot of paddles if you are going to run all four. Too much paddles will really bog down the motor. One of my bikes has 65HP and I run 8 paddle extremes. I think paddles on the front would really hurt your handling and steering you are also going to have sand all over your motor and you. People won't even ride behind me because my Haulers throw up so much sand. Before spending a lot of money you might just try the front paddles out for one ride. There are many reasons why no one sees 4 paddle tires on anything but mud drags straight line rails or trucks.

Front paddles will handle horribly, almost to the point of being unrideable for anything other than hillclimbing in a straight line, just so you know. And front V-force wheels wont fit the front of a Prairie because the bolt pattern is different, not to mention that 10" wheels will hit the brake caliper.

These V-twin motors make a lot of torque, but they don't really rev out all that much with their CVT transmission, unlike say a Banshee for example. So you will have better results with a bigger OD tire that lets you take advantage of the torque. It doesn't matter how big the tire is, to a point, because the v-twin has enough torque to pull it (just not enough RPM to take advantage of the smaller tires). The best paddles for a V-Force are 24" OD, so why run a 22" OD paddle on a Prairie? It makes no sense. I would suggest either 25x11x9 Skat Trak Extremes for the rear, with nine paddles; or 26x12x12 Skat Trak Extremes for the rear, with 9 paddles as well. Then run a good light weight front sport quad tire in a 25" size, such as the Maxxis Front Pro.
