Default VDi timing advance module

Just purchased the vdi timing module online. It took about 3 days to get it from Canada to Texas. I will be installing it tomorrow on my 2003 prairie 650. Design wise it appears to be a well built product with an on/off switch. Look for a ride review soon.

Looks like a nice unit, but it doesnt change the timing other than removing the low speed retard. The dyna and dg modules, from what I understand, boost timing throughout the powerband. The dg still has a timing retard like the stocker, but its from more than 28 degrees to begin with. This means that the dyna and dg will yield more power throughtout rather than just leveling everything out at the stock 28 degree timing.

If I'm wrong let me know, but it seems like this product isnt offering what the other modules are. This would work well with a degree key, but shouldnt outperform the dg and dyna units elsewhere in the powerband.

Maddog,
A module is a module nothing can compete with the cdi. The DG5 is still a module it will only produce 28* the same as the other modules. If you can afford a module and a key then you can afford a cdi, a cdi has more features. This has been done to death module versus cdi thing. VDI makes a good module you will like it.

Supported Machines: 2002-2005 Kawasaki Prairie/KVF/Brute Force 650/700/750, 2004-2005 Arctic Cat V2 650, 2004-2005 Suzuki Twin Peaks 700
Its for the 650 too.

Thanks for clearing that up for me alltoys, I had come to the wrong conclusions on the attributes of the dg modules.

DG makes a good product and so do the rest, Velocity module is a good product as well. If you are looking for bottom end power these modules work good for that purpose. If you decide to add a key by the time you add the expense of the key, a flywheel puller, gaskets, oil, antifreeze, a CDI is so much easier. Plug and play versus cutting wires, and removing the flywheel.

I gather from Velocitys site they will be coming out with a CDI next year for the Kawi V twin which will work on the Suzi, and of course the AC.

Gee,I just came over here to bring up this very subject.I was wondering if anyone was using the VDI module.I know you fellas have your own site for kawi's and so do we.Over at the arctic cat site the 650 guys were wanting a module that you can switch on/off.I told them about it and bang,a slew of guys bought them up and were totally happy. You can't beat the price either, the other modules seem to want to make you beleve they can work majic but they all do the same thing.
Personally the switch is something that I don't care about anymore but for an extra 10 bucks what the hey?

I just installed the VDI premium module with on/off switch on my 2003 650. It makes a noticable difference and it is nice that the on/off switch is integral. Some of the other manufacturers modules require you to wire a switch up seperately. I believe it pretty much does the same as all of the others as far as performance is concerned. Check out my installation pictures and full review.
