Should have stayed home today. Went hunting this morning in freezing rain and snow. Parked my 650 in a manner that allowed water to accumulate around the ignition which then froze. Had to chip ice away to get my key in the ignition. Had to use some effort to get key in and then it would not turn on. Used lighter to heat the key, warm enough to burn my fingers, still would not turn on. Finally cut the ignition wires and twisted them together to bypass ignition. Engine then cranked but would not start. Did I screw something up?

Well I try my best to explain,to my best knowledge.....internally in the ignition switch is a resistor (value unknown to me)I believe the cdi needs to see this resistive value in order to let the coils work.Anti theft like those damn keys on the automobiles. So in short, bypassing the wires old school eliminated the resistor and therefore no spark...Reverse osmosis...put it back together like originally wired, thaw ignition and it should be grand!!!
note... Please solder all connections with proper heat shrink or liquid tape!!!M/M
