Default modified radiator gaurd

Hi all haven't been here in awhile but I thought you guys would like to see the radiator gaurd I modified so that it is easier to get in and clean the radiator.

First off I cut the gaurd off with a sawsall and then trimmed it down so that it would fit in the hole without binding then I turned it upside down so that the lip that was on the top would be on the bottom that way when it is closed it is up against the plastic mud gaurd that is already there. then i got some hinges from the hardware store and bolted them to the new gaurd and to my custom tow loop then i added some barrel locks and drilled a hole on each side of the frame tubes so that i can lock it in place.

Now I can open it anytime to get out big clumps of mud or leaves or whatever and can really get in to clean it out with a hose.

you can see pics of it in my bio page let me know what you think?

P.S. I tried to get a pic of how much room you had when it was open but they wouldn't let me upload it? but I can get my whole arm in there if I wanted to.

looks good Ruttratt. i was thinking the same thing but making it swing the other way, to the side. i plan on using a different style of mesh because that stock grating doesnt hold up to sticks/ logs, i thought i put a hole in my radiator.

Thanks for the compliment deerchopper I also thought about having it open to the side but couldn't quite figure out how to mount it and since I had my tow loop already bolted on to the p650 I thought that it was a good spot. I also was going to go with a different screen but wanted to do it the cheapest way possible ( still might change screen in the future).

It sure is nice being able to get in there and clean the rad. out good especially out on the trail.
