cartman: Your honest response on power gain on a Prairie from pipe mods is pretty typical from what I've read. Better sound, not much power gain.

the aftermarket pipes normaly give you more power than moding your stock pipe............ but they also give you ALOT more noise...... The Dail-a-jet had me all tonged up. I've got them off and the stock jetting back in......starting over from square one. The PC system should boost me a couple horsepower. that wouldn't seem to noticable but when you only talking between 40-50 horses a 2-4 horspower gain is a pretty good kick in the pants. just my thoughts.

Check my pics for my version of the nyroc mod. Quieter, certainly. "seat of the pants" seems to cut loose faster on the trails, around the farm about the same
I used 6 1/2" holes and it was way too loud. I rewelded the original reducer at the end of my add on pipe, not much louder than factory.

When I modded my exhaust I put 8, 3/8holes through the baffles,I dont know what my gain was but acceleration was noticablely faster.

CWG, why did you make the exhaust that way? Any reason or just cause?

Reno700:

How much did the sound increase with the 8-3/16" holes? I ride mostly with a club and don't want to be too loud.

Did you do anything about a spark arrester along with your mod?

It is a little louder, more of a tone change. You will notice the difference, but it wont be like an after market pipe.Nyroc only did 6,3/8holes he said his is a little louder than stock grizz.Nothing with spark arrester, but you do remove the insert in the tip.

Just cause? LOL Cause and effect maybe. I punched 3/8's holes all the way thru, and it didnt "seem" big enough, out comes the 1/2" x 18" drill. Welded it back up and it was louder than all hell, I was bummed to say the least. Some quick engineering came up with that. Like I said, its now about as loud as factory, more top end (like when you get stuck or WOT thru mud, or deeeeep snow) Jets looked a bit lean (high rpm- then kill motor) , but as I do a bit of low rpm work around here, they burn perfect brown most of the time.
I've floated my bike when I was with deerchopper, and it did keep the water from filling up the exhaust.
I will weld a shorty muffler in the middle of my add-ons when I have time this summer- sort of a redneck stealth set up.
By the time I add the dyna set it should compliment the rig nicely....I'm hoping...LOL

Reno: I think nyroc did 3/8" holes. No offense, I wouldn't have brought it up, but I want to be sure what you did. I like the idea of 3/16" holes.

If you did indeed drill 3/8" holes and had good luck, that's cool for me too. Thanks.

I did the mod with 3/8" holes, didn't notice much power gain. It got way loud. Dealer didn't want it on trade couldn't ride on forest service land for sound and no spark arrester. Had to buy another muffler.
