Body roll normal on Bayou?
#1
I recently bought my first quad a 95' bayou 220.
I really like the quad and it works great for running logging roads....
The only think that bothers me is the excessive body roll on turns. Is this normal?
When I make a turn the thing feels like it wants to throw me. Other than that I enjoy it and it keeps up with my riding buddys 250 beartracker. Also I got it for $650 in good condition new battery and tires which I thought was a steal... Is this a good price?
thanks

hey Oregon,
what part of OR you in? I am moving to Sandy which is at the western base of Mout Hood. Should be there in 2 months or so with 2 new quads.
I'm new also so cant help much on the body roll bit if it seems excessive it probably is and I would check the susp to see if its been run out. On a 95 it could be. at $650 even a few bucks into the susp still makes a heck of a deal

The suspension on the 220's isn't great but it ain't crappy. Maybe check yer tire pressures or maybe even look into some stiffer tires. Can't remember if you can adjust the spring tension on your shock springs. I always thought the suspension on 220's was too stiff. How much you weigh and how tall are you if you don't mind me askin? That will definately cause some excessive body roll characteristics if the person is pretty big. Good luck with your new Kawi. You definately got a bulletproof machine!

The problewm with the Bayou is that the front tires are not set right. go stand about 20 ft in front of the quad and you will see what I am talking about. Compare that to what the front end looks like on a dirt track car. when you go around a corner the tires are rounding under and not grabing. Buying a flat front tire might help some. For what you payed for the 220, you got a hell of a deal for a play quad.

I have an '03 bayou 250. I added 1.5 inch wheel spacers to all four wheels and keep the tire pressure around 6 pounds. That has made a huge difference in the way the quad handles and feels. The body roll is still there, just not as drastic. The stock tires are very soft and thin walled and keeping them at 3 pounds allows them roll off of the tread when turning. The spacers added a little more stability to the narrow wheel track.
