Carb Leaking - Need Help
#1
I have a stock Kawasaki Prairie 400 4x4. It runs good but when I shut it off the carb leaks fuel out of the overflow tube. I took the carb off twice and cleaned it according to the mx manual. Same result, it still leaks after I shut it off. The only way to prevent it from leaking is to turn the petcock off while it's runnning and let it starve. I've heard a lot of people have had problems with carbs since they took out the MTBE out of the gas. Any adivce or help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums.
Either the float level is set too high, or theres a piece of crud, holding the float needle and seat apart. Next time to take it apart, use some scotch brite, or steelwool, and polish up the seat, and the taper on the float needle.
Its a good idea to leave the float bowl empty anytime the quad is gonna sit for awhile, its the contant evaporation and refill, that leaves deposits in the carb.

Thanks guys, it's all fixed. Turns out carb cleaner and compressed air was not enough to clean out the float needle seat. Scotchbrite worked like a charm. It's all clean and no more leaks.
Thanks Again,
Dave
