Which cdi for 700 Prairie?
#1
Which is better the highlifter or the Dayna cdi box for a 700 Prairie? The reason I ask is that I'm thinking of buying one, and the highlifter is less expensive, does that mean it's not as good, or is it just a better value?

Modules eliminate the timing retardation, the cdi does that and bumps timing to 33 degrees from stock 28. Different products that do different things. There are lots of threads on this subject and you'll find lots of good information if you do a search in the kawasaki forum.

I have had both, the Dyna is better.you have to splice into your wiring to install the HL module, the dyna replaces your stock CDI(plug & play). The dyna not only increases your timing but keeps it there until you hit the rev limiter, which is increased to 9200 rpm.The HL module is just for bottom end the Dyna is a full range improvement.

That is only 600 rpm over stock, you might be suprised. The quad will pull better all the way through the range with the cdi.I gained 2 mph with the cdi not that top speed is important.

The dyna also eliminates the belt minder junk and instals in seconds. Stakk I have yet to hit the thing even with the big bore kit and cams ect.ect. It will rev alot more freely now but the way the belt drive works, I am the top of its capabilty and know way to get much more with out alot of changes to the drive pullys and removal of the ebs and then just adds about another 5 mph at a cost of around 800.oo so I am told.

I have the Dyna also and the only reason I made that comment was I'm not sure if the 9200 redline was really nessessary.....I have seen guys post speeds of 72-74 mph downhill and showing 7800 rpm on tachs.....speed with these bikes at the stock 8500 rpm would be 80 + mph 9200 would have to be close to 90......I'm not sure what kind of mods to the motor it would take to get the bike's to 8500-9200 rpm.....
